@desmobob

Sounds like you did your homework!

I have had that happen a number of times with masking. You can take a knife and scratch off the paint before you switch colors, or like I mentioned, hide it if you miss it.

Patience is the number one resource when it comes to this stuff.

I have never used heat to hurry things until this winter. I have a hanging electric furnace in my garage (giant hair dryer). I've been using it to crank the temp up, keep cans warm in front and dry the body between coats. I'll hold it up in front or wave it around to dry quick.

You get better and better over time but honestly this one turned out awesome dude!

And I nearly lost mine early on when I painstakingly masked the roof area for the first coat of paint and then realized I had all the masking reversed --on the wrong side of the color edges-- and had to start all over again. 😄

Been there. 👍🏼
Hard to wrap your head around working backwards.

Got plans for a first drive?

Not really... still too much snow on the ground; waiting for some good weather. Or if I start to feel I don't want to wait any longer, I'll try to find a spot with some solid snowbanks! :)

I installed headlights and taillights today. They were the "bare LED bulb" type, from an old kit from my R/C airplane days. They look good but aren't nearly as bright as the Meus kit I put in my H10 Optic, which is good and bad. The lights on my Optic are so bright they almost blind you when they're pointed at you. But they're bright enough for night driving.

The lights I installed in the Origin Classic look good and don't blind you when pointed at you, but they're not bright enough to use for night driving. I really don't see myself doing a lot of night driving so it's moot.

I can now call the Origin Classic kit build "finished." :) :thumbs-up:

One observation after completing the Vanquish H10 Optic and Origin Classic kits: The Optic kit, with its exposed cockpit and somewhat scale interior, doesn't include a cover with gear shift levers for the transmission. They provide a simple, flat cover and the instructions show the one with shift levers as an "optional" part. But the Origin Classic, which you can't see inside and has no interior and tinted windows, includes three different transmission covers, including the scale one with two shift levers.

I just painted and installed the gearshift cover from the Origin Classic kit into my H10 Optic. :) Done.

That's the nice thing about having/building multiple kits; you'll use those unused bits somewhere else 🙂

Let's see!!!!
