Sounds like you did your homework!
I have had that happen a number of times with masking. You can take a knife and scratch off the paint before you switch colors, or like I mentioned, hide it if you miss it.
Patience is the number one resource when it comes to this stuff.
I have never used heat to hurry things until this winter. I have a hanging electric furnace in my garage (giant hair dryer). I've been using it to crank the temp up, keep cans warm in front and dry the body between coats. I'll hold it up in front or wave it around to dry quick.
You get better and better over time but honestly this one turned out awesome dude!
