used laptop value???

A buddy of mine has never had a computer and I have a somewhat dated laptop that I don't use anymore. I'd like to sell it but don't really know what it's worth. The downside is that the screen is F'ed up and one hinge is broken (dial-up pissed me off a few too many times hehe). computer works fine though. It's an HP pavilion. About 5 years old. CD/DVD drive. whatcha think?

I bought one for $2... A 450mhz HP Pavillion. However, it's LCD was literally broken off and stomped on. Worked fine otherwise. $38 later on ebay, and I've got a fully working one. I'd say prolly half of whatever you paid for it, that might be fair.
