thinknig about asking my wife for some upgrades for the savage 4.6 any ideas where i should start have done gears already

2nd that!! You get the speed from the 3spd and the diffs to handle the bashing sessions. For the receiver pack I would invest in a quality charger instead of the wallplug units. Just my .02

receiver packs are always nice the one i got came with a wall charger and an extra connector for and aftermarket charger. I can show you witch one it was if you want the same.

I personally like my 2 speed because i dont go on long straights doing high speed runs. i just do a homade track down the street so i dont even have enough time to get outta first. i guess it depends on your surrounding if you should get a 3 speed or not.

I personally liked the aluminum exhaust pipe from HPI... really nice sound over the plastic. and cheap if you can find em on ebay.

Also i havent had any issues with the diff's so far and that truck is mainly used for jumps and hard landings. just over all tough driving.

i would say if you have bigbore single shocks.. work on upgading those.. for mine it started sagging in the rear after the break in. or maye buy some wide axle conversion kit give it a wider stance for more control.

Here is the list of items I see on the Savage that can be good to upgrade or mods. I know some of these have already been mentioned but here it is.

1. Hump pack if you use dry cell batteries
2. BP diffs serviced with good silicone oil
3. Good servos! Never go wrong with better servos
4. Better throttle/brake linkage. This can be a fun modd
5. Red fiberglass brakes
6. If you want better handling and willing to sacrifice some suspension travel get the sway bar kit.
7. Lower the truck a bit from stock....help keep tires planted.
8. Better tuned pipe if you still have the plastic
9. Inspect/replace inner drive cups on the tranny and diffs for the center shafts. If it worn it can cause the shaft to break....been there did it....about three times.
