Traxxas has a recoil pull starter. It costs about $20 (CDN). It seems to me that would have been a better way to sell the truck stock. It is lighter, smaller, and thought my EZ start came free, the battery and charger was nearly $70.

Seems like an A1 upgrade to me. However I don't recall seeing it in the upgrade thread on the post here. What am I missing other than needing a glow warmer?

Right now, I find my EZ start kicks ass (2.5 version). But man! The weight in my pocket alone for the starter, an extra ounce in my truck, dealing with low starter batteries and recharge time!

Am I wrong or is this by far the most under rated upgrade ever?

(I would specially like to hear from 2.5 EZ users who have the upgrade.)

Well lots of people dont like pulling simply stated. Also they have not released the pull start for the 2.5 yet.

I don't have a 2.5 yet but maybe I can shed some light on the pullstart question........

I got a new pro .15 to replace my worn out one and it came with a pullstart, and after blood was running down my finger from yanking on the damn thing, I put an ezstart on it real quick.

To answer your question.....Traxxas was smart to put an ezstart on all there engines, they are RTR (ready to run) and people like the convenience of pushing a button and firing up the mill.

yes it adds weight, but to the novice hobby enthusiast or just a basher, weight is not an issue. I may be wrong but about the only people who take the ezstart off is a hardcore racer who is looking to save some weight.

carrying around the ezstart and battery is not an issue with me and Traxxas has made it even easier by the new design of the ezstart and also that it will clip on your belt.

It's all about personal preference, some guys like a pullstart some like the ezstart. To answer your other question.... if you go with a pullstart, a glo igniter is all you need.

Also your tuning abilities have to be right on with a pullstart or you will have blisters real quick. The ezstart allows for the novice tuner to still be able to start his or her mill with ease.

Thanks for summing that up for me FT. That is pretty much it. Most people runniny pull starts are racing or have an aftermarket engine installed. X

A glow igniter will actually help the easy start since you are not using battery power to heat the plug but merely for starting the engine. I recomend a glow igniter no matter which way you go. I have an OS CVX 15, but I got the KHB easy start adapter for it. I personally don't care for pull starts and since I am not a hardcore racer I dont care about the little extra weight, I love the convienience of the easy start.

I used to think the pull start was the only wat to go.
The first time something isn't quite right and you have to

pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull, pull, and pull,

you will appreciate the EZ Start

Ummm, were still talking about r/c right?

I've said it once before and I'll say it again. My EZ start kicks ass!

Thanks to everybody who responded, I'll keep the EZ, after all recharging a battery has never drawn blood! I'll reserve the pull and pull and pull for more gratifying endevours.

Non pullstart

The best and cheapest alternative to the pulll start is the bump starter from Native Racing www.remotecontrolhobby.com. This willl allow you to run non pull start motors in your tmaxx from 12 to 21.Also this starter can be used to start your Savage.

I used to want a p[ullstart too but then my friend brought over his buggy (with a pullstart) and it took forever to start and only started like 2 times before we had to recharge and he broke the cord so now i really don't want to have to pull forveer to start my truck so i like the ez start a lot more.

I just ordered a 2.5 pull start for my roommate and Tower said it shipped yesterday. I'll have it this week. Now I need to find a new pull start for my hyper 21 :(
