Well I'm looking to upgrade this thing. so far I've got a new 2707 steering servo. After that I'm lost on what to upgrade next? its fast enough for me at the moment as this is my first nitro. I'm deff going to have to get some reverse action going on lol this one either didnt come with it or the past owner took it out.
 
Well if the past owner took it out then they did a forward only conversion and it makes the trany much better with less gears and things that can break. So if you want reverse you would have to find the parts that the guy got rid of and the servo that switched the gears but not many people want reverse so the parts would have to be ordered. In other words you don't need reverse and it's too much of a hassle. If you really want to upgrade your car look into rpm a arms and some new tires. Also a pic would help with knowing what shape your car is in.

Okay after finding your other post with pics I see that the shifting servo is gone so it would cost too much in my opinion to add reverse to your truck. And also I recently bought about the exact same thing you have now and have been doing a lot of research and learning about this car so if you need any help don't be afraid to send me a few pm's.

Yeah it can be a bit over whelming. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. I may not be very experienced my self but anything I can help you with I'll be glad to.
 
oh I'm sure ill need some help on friday when my parts get here, i just took this whole thing apart to clean it and re lube everything noticed the lil um... plunger looking thing part number tra5242 for the carb was completely rotted away, I've also gotta figure out why fuel was coming out from the head. figure id put some gasket sealer on it ?

RPM A-arms huh ill pick some of those up too
 
The plunger looking thing is the throttle dust boot so its only job is to keep the carb clean yeah use copper rtv to seal the engine so it doesn't leak. And any rpm products good to strengthen the car.
 
sounds good, theres no way i could keep those rpm arms blue or black lol there gunna have to be painted but thats going to chip off :( i can't find the white ones to dye anywhere and aluminium is a weeee bit to much for me atm

I dont think putting rtv under the cooling head is a good idea, its leaking possibly because its loose.
 
i took it off screwed it back in it still did it :( its high heat rtv but still i dunno if anyone has done it so I'm not sure how its going to work, ill put the beast back together on friday when i get all my other parts and see what happens

speaking of- random though i even had fuel coming out of there! I'm thinking there is an o-ring missing somewhere lol
 
is there supposed to be a gasket between the head and the engine?
 
Yes^^^^^ copper o ring! If it doesn't have one get one. Dont put any rtv. Between cooling head and block. I've got one i will mail to you no charge for a 2.5R. Pm me.
 
well that explains the fuel coming out everywhere. it looks like the past owner painted the head....that can't be good for heat :/ but ill make sure to get an o ring if zdragon dont send his.

Don i have it in an envelope ready to mail. I just dont have a stamp. So it will be mailed tomorrow and you should get it in a few days coming from Georgia to Idaho.

Your welcome. I got the 2.5r crank also along with the block and head. The head has o broken cooling fin though. To complete it needs sleeve piston and rod. I used the rod out of it in my new 2.5r when it broke from locking tdc and i didnt warm it up with a hair dryer to loosen it. Lesson learned on that one huh. You can get a new 2.5r engine off ebay for $104.99 free shipping. Thats where i got mine.
 
another question, on the subject of rims and tires......... I'm looking for something that would give a little bit better steering/ front end traction. any sugestions?
 
lol this engine is plenty fast for me.... it being my first nitro but I'm sure here in a month ill want a bigger one lol
 
Oh you will I'm sure. I want a .28 in my revo. Or at least a .21 which will be plenty but I'm into overkill!!
 
As for wheels and tires I have been plenty happy with my pro-line trenchers on tech 5 wheels. I am running this combo on a 3.3 and it is perfect for bashing. If you plan on running on the street or other paved surface or doing any racing then there are better options but for bashing the trenchers are great!
