RC Driving Style
Ok..I've been doing this about a year now and really enjoy it. I bought a used rc10gt about a year ago and have driven it alot. I've only replaced the clutch bell from stock 15 tooth to 17 tooth. I've also tweaked the engine to run a little leaner. Lately i've been reading about this Traxxas Jato and on paper am really impressed. Could i get the rc10gt to perform speed/acceleration wise on the same level as the jato without spending $400? I"m no expert on modding these things so i don't wanna ruin it. I would like to know what you guys thoughts are on this. Engine suggestions , gear ratios that would yield high speed increases...or just better go with Jato?

Thanks

anyone ever think about mounting a NTC3 2 speed clutch and gears on a GT? that would be a sweet mod for the GT. I guess I need to pull the manuals to see what it would take to make it work. :hammer:

I have thought of that... I was wondering if it would work too. It would be pretty cool. I'm more than satisfied with my single speed though... :devious:

Id say it depends what you want to do, the Jato is a great ST. but it has a 2 speed, a .15 engine. both of these need to be replaced before you came race in a ST class. But for just plain bashing, big jumps and speed go with the Jato.
If you are going to race go with upgrading the RC10GT

i dont think the TZ works with the GT (exhaust port) i believe you have to use the cv version (.18 of course) but yah id stick with the GT. plus it'll be cheaper probably

id go with a .18 engine, metal tranny, and hook yourself up with some nice tires and then maybe if you still feel like spending a little more on it look into a high torque servo for steering.

The TZ will work fine in the GT. Get one of those losi headers or something like that...

Is it tough to replace an engine if upgrading to .18? I'm very new to this so want to make sure i get the right stuff..that doesn't require a ton of mods...i'm not the greatist modder in the world @ this point :O)

Could anyone point me to a link on say towerhobbies that would be the right one...that requires little or no mods? Thanks

To put in a .18 TZ you would need to cut the shaft with a Dremel. You would also need a rear exaust header. This one will work for you.

You can use everthing else off you old motor.I woul recament a MIP 4 in 1 clutch. It is a lot better than the stock one.

Is there another engine out there that would force me to cut the shaft? THanks Highflyin for the feedback.

go to tower and look at the .18 os engines, and the ones that look like they have just a small nub comming out of the engin are the ones you can use with the rc10gt. I would get you the linkbut I only have dialup at work and it would take forever.

righton...so i wouldn't need a a different exhaust manifold or anything aye? Right on...thanks for the help
