Ok, so you helped me out so I thought I’d give an update.

First, I ordered 1/8 savage X SS w/ 4.6, servo’s, filter, and some tools – all told it was $621….wife won’t be pleased – boy will be ecstatic.

Yesterday we tore down the Terra Crusher and rebuilt it, runs well. I was able to install a knew pull cord on the Smartech and it runs well. We ran several tanks through them both before having a full throttle head-on collision….opp’s. After a few on the spot repairs to linkage and the like. I tried to start the Smartech and I broke the new pull start, ripped it right out….DOH !

The Terra Crusher started but had zero power, not sure but I think the clutch is shot. Without using the remote I hit full throttle manually and nothing – almost as if I was not hitting it. I need to get it running again and post exactly what it is doing or not doing in order to ask for assistance.

Just wanted to update you all since you have been so very helpful. Thanks again !

Congrats on the purchase!

It's great to see you enjoying your hobby with your son. Fixing the damage after a good bashing experience is also a good bonding experience as well.

Congrats on the purchase, I think you're going to be very pleased with the Savage once you get it built!

In regards to your pull start - you're pulling the cord way to far out. Only need to pull the cord about 6 inches or so out, anything further and you're risking doing exactly what you did. Just an FYI.

Good to hear!! :first_place:

WoodiE is correct. DON'T pull it like it's a lawn mower. Short rapid yanks is what's needed.

(Which reminds me... I knew a short rapid yank when I lived in New York)

LOL - After yanking out two of them I think I learned all on my own not to pretend its a lawn mower :-) Speaking of which...I need to get the lawn cut tonight before it rains !

OK, also - I went ahead and bought the other Smartech that was on Ebay...I know, its a peice of crap. But I found the web site online where I can buy replcaement parts - and since it was only $250 or so I figured what the heck - and that would give me three working nitro's with three seperate radio's....so we can run these three whilst building the other. My Son's B-day is in November - I am not sure if I am going to hold that Savage until then or start building it with him now....that was the other reason I bought the Smartech - maybe I can hold that for his B-day and get the build going now...ah, such decisions !

Either way I will keep you poseted - I am sure I will have lot's of questions in time.....thanks again !
