making this clear, as the other on-road forum thinks this is a 4wd buggy... this is a 5th scale 5b ON-ROAD..this is an ongoing problem that i could use some help with.. my butt comes around my head..serously. when entering a turn tha back end comes around.out of the hole shot it hooks up sweet. on power streering is great for a 2 wheel drive buggy. i dropped the back end down so its lower then the front, and use tire traction wich helps for a little bit.. should i lower the shock oil wieght or the shock piston.out of the 5 piston holes, I'm on the smallest 1(its hyper-adjust). but my front left tire comes off the ground as it is.. so if i go any lower, it will get worse. what if i put on a heavier spring? have many.. I'm set at 2* with my rear toe-in will a zero toe-in help.. I'm also running light diff oil. i think if i go heaveir it will be even worse.?. PLEASE.. any tips will help.. this is a 1:5 hpi 5b.. its all the same, just bigger
..

Does the swap happen under braking? On-power out of the turn? Are you running any drag brake at neutral throttle?

I'm runnin g nuetral throttle. no drag brake.. hard breakin it still stays straight. but i have to not lock up ..of coarse.but as soon as i hit the turn the back end comes around.. once it starts sliding, its done. though i seem to have good hole shot traction.. I'm new to the on road set-up. so i may be missing something basic... I'm running 70 weight in the rear and 55 up front. and i have the shock piston on the smallest hole.. I'm going to change shock piston holes.. I've alos tried 60 wieght in the rear. but it kept bringing the front inside tire up too high and was pushing..i know I'm not dealing with you typical on-road, but thats the fun.. what about the rear toe-in? or camber?

Things don't sound too radical as far as toe and camber. I'd thing a -2 toe would be right. 0 toe might make it a bit squirrley in the straights. I'd really think about softening up the rear suspension. Lighten the oil. Bigger holes in the piston. Lighter springs. Sounds like the current shocks might be so solid that your back end is waaay too loose.

it is kinda kinda hard in the back with little rebound.. it does way 24lbs thow. when i had the 60wt in the rear, the front end was kinda jittery. around the corner it would get some wheel hop. maybe i should lighten up both of them.. you said 0 toe will make it a bit hairy on the staights.. it tracks super sweet now. would it make a diffrence in the corners if i sacrificed some of that?

INteresting. So just by lightening the oil weight by 10, you go from a super-loose to a bit tight? That's what it sounds like. Here's my thought if you're creative. If 70wt snaps the rear around hard, and 60 wt is starting to cause the front to push a bit, mix the oils. Hit it 50/50 and you'll effectively be working with a 65 wt which might be more of a balance than the other two.

If it's truly a HPI 5B, I just saw in RC Car action a front brake upgrade you can install that may help. Just a thought...

yes it trully is a 5b:yes:.. I'm going to get the front brake set, but I'm gona have to wait till the end of the summer.. they start at $350.00 but i drove a front brake 5b and man what a diffrent car. try un hooking the front front brakes on your 1:1 car.. see how far you go. but first is the savage and some upgrades for my 2 new rs4's

ok. so it handles like a train on tracks!! i must have redone the suspension 10 times before getting it right. REAR: accedently mixed 80wt and 50wt. so i just went with it. took rear sway bars off for more role with #3 shock piston hole factory springs..FRONT: went from 50wt to 40wt on shock piston hole #4 with medium sway bar and stock springs. becouse of this i went back to full throw on the stearing trim to compansate for very very little on power push. i can't believe how great it handles.. ok now I'm bored.. on to the next

Few problems..One of them is weight transfer..If your "front left tire comes off the ground"..you will spin out..Your inside rear is also unloading. I would try raising the rear of the car up some, and try some heavier oil in the rear shocks also..I would also put the rear sway bar back on.. I raced Oval for a lot of years so I am familiar with the problem your describing..I'm not their watching the car but what your describing sounds like as you go into a left hand corner the weight is being transferred to the right rear as this is happening the left front comes off the ground at the same time the left rear is being unweighted..loss of traction..you spin out..I always tried to keep the cars balanced with the front sitting a little lower than the rear..
