I just baught a positive diff off ebay..is there a way to unluck it or do i have to buy another set of gear?

Not trying to change the subject but was wondering....are the Tmaxx a real 4x4 or a 2X4 system. I mean when I spin the front two wheels, they turn opisite of each other. Do you have to buy a true Posi like this to get 4x4?

Thanks
Ray

I beleive you are talking about a spool, instead of positive traction (i dont think there is such a thing in the R/C world). A spool is a solid piece instead of the spider gears (open diff). To get the open diff again, you will need the spider gears, a diff cup, and the cross pin.

SVORay, The T-maxx is 4x4, but the front and rear do not have locked diffs, they are open, meaning one wheel in the front and back can spin while the other two wheels are stopped.

So if you want all four tires to spin at one time you would need to install a spool? Just what are the pros and cons for this on a MT?

Thanks

It will give you more power to the ground.....the wheels will spin at the same RPM...this is good for crawling and Drag racing......When it comes to turning the spool will keep you from turning as tight as you should...a standard diff will let one tire spin at differnt RPM from the other (left to right) this is critical in turns because your outside (to the turn) tire is making a larger diameter circle while it's turning (spinning more) than the inside tire...if they can't do that then the inside tire is going to try and push the diameter of your turn wider......they want to spin together now.....I used a spool in my maxx but in the front....not rear.....it gave me more pull out of th ecorners on the track but didn't widen my turn radius too much.....when you get on dirt it's not too bad since the spool will just cause the wheels to slide out...but on the street when it's hard to slide it the drivetrain gets all that stress transferred to all sorts of parts....mostly axles...they snap and you replace em.....unless you're pulling, drag racing or rock crawling (hard w/ nitro) I wouldn't mess w/ a spool too much......

This is a whole lot like typical real cars.

My main use for anything I buy right now is bashing in the field out back behind the house. So I may try a spool or two out one of these days.

Thanks for the imfo

The spool will also put more wear on the axles/diffs becuase they wont let the tires slip. I found that out the hard way.
