Ultra shock set up.

Hello all I am new to the board and new to 1/8 scale buggies. OFNA Ultra LX Pro. I realize that I bought entry level, but I bought what was available to me from a guy that was leaving Korea. Anyways, my Question

What shock springs fit the Ofna Ultra shocks? I bought a set of Kyosho springs, but the are about an inch longer.

Here are the symptoms. Throughout the day, our track gets more and more bumpy. The front of the car holds the track pretty well where as the back of the car bounces all over the place. Both the front and rear shocks all have the stock pistons and springs on them. I don't know what the fron oil is, but the back has 35 wt in it. What can I do to smooth things out a bit? Loosen the suspension. Lighter oil in your rear shocks. However remember with softer suspension you will drag your chassis more.

I am all the way up on the top shock mount, all the way out on the bottom shock mount, all the way up on the threaded shock nut. How do I go softer from there? I have done RC for a long time, but the shocks is one thing I never understood, and spent alot of time just guessing. But it takes a week or 3 to get parts here for me, so trial and error is out the window. Thanks again.

Straight up and down shocks is going to give you more bounce. Reposition the top of the shocks so you have more of a / \ angle look from the rear.

Softer springs would probably be the way to go. I wouldnt drop oil weight too much on a buggy. Not below 30 anyhow. You can also check to see if the stock pistons only have 2 holes. If so, swap them out for 3's. In fact, if they are 2's, just switch them up and change shock position before you go with new springs.

Good question - not certain on the OFNA shocks what colors equate to what. Ill dig around and see what I can find.

Thanks alot, I do VERY much appreciate it. I know I tried the Kyosho light blue springs, and it bounced all over the place, when I pit the stock OFNAs back on, it smoothed out some, but still alot more bounce than the front, that's for sure.

Yeah definately go with repositioning the shocks and check those pistons first.

OFNA's site SUCKED! trying to find out what springs fit what was not happening.......

Here are the part numbers and descriptions:

40069 - Spring Set, Black (stock)
40070 - Spring Set, Green (soft)
40071 - Spring Set, Blue (medium)
40072 - Spring Set, White (hard)

The stock pistons are 2 hole but I couldnt find 3 hole ones for those shocks. At least not the part numbers.

Hey Çh®i§tiªñ, that worked out nice. The car was much smoother as the day wore on, not near as much bounce as the previous week. I lightened the rear oil from 35 to 30, drilled the holes to 1/16 inch holes, and that was only slightly bigger. I also took the bladder of the shocks, and there was a :censored: load of oil behind there, not allowing the bladder to do it's job. And yes, I did put them backl on. I know there are much better cars out there, but until I have one of those, this thing is cool. I love 1/8 scale, and in a little over 3 weeks, I will be back in the states where the language barriers are usually restricted to the accent of the area you are in Thanks again for you time and help.

Nope, Utah is the next stop in my career, but my wife is from NYC so we may end up east coast some day when I retire from the AF. Not NYC but somewhere out there.

I know you said you were not familiar with Ofna's but do all the 1/8 buggies have a steering block (limiter) on the lower arm? I need more steering, on and off throttle. I have to steer with the rear of the car in the tighter section of the track.

Are your wheels turning from lock to lock or is it restricted by the servo movement?
