Might work in some hard-packed snow. Looks like quite the gimmick, really. Some big ol' 40 series tires with some low gearing seems to work well enough in the snow. Wheel speed and momentum. Pretty wild looking, though.
 
I was thinking the same thing. With something that is violently quick like these RC cars, I'm not so sure having the front on skis is a good idea – but I do like the design, it looks cool! :)
 
This vid shows them in action but its light fluf snow digging down to the ground. I'd like to see them in real snow.

in a deeper fluffyish snow i dont see them being worth a crap! get some sand scoops!
 
i wouldnt use them because of the 4wd the axles would just spin with no load on them
