TX & RX mix

would i beable to use a Airtronics MX-3 TX with some other FM RXbecause i wanna use this RX on my MAXX instead of the POS it came with but the airtronics RX has Jr plugs instead of J so i was thinking of seeing if someone wanted to trade Rx's but wasn't sure if i could mix them with out problems

You may mix FM equipment with FM equipment and AM with AM.
First off you need to match frequency's and you will also need to do a real-world test for range once the equipment is installed.

Also, when mixing Tx and Rx, make sure they have compatible shift. Don't quote me on what I say next because I don't have the info right in front of me. But I believe that Hitec and Futaba are negative shift systems and Airtronics/JR are positive shift systems so make sure you either get an RX with the proper shift or selectable shift....

You are correct Candyman. There was a post about the positive and negative shift a little while back.

Other than the above exception, Airtronics and JR are positive shift, Futaba and KO are negative.

ok i gotch ya now they do make airtronics/JR recievers with J plugs right????

They should. The cool thing is that even if they don't, most LHS carry the connectors; and you can change them yourself easily enough. The plug on the end after all is just a plastic sheath for the wiring.

thats a good idea i never thought of that i could just swap out the stcok TX and RX put the airtronics in and solder on jr plugs to the servos

You don't have to solder anything. The plastic plugs that go into the receiver come off easily enough. I change them out every now and again when I can't find the servo I want with the right plugs.

They just kind of pop off and you pop a new one on. I'll see if I can find an example of what I am talking about.

Couldn't find the darn things, but did come across these two items that may be of interest...they are adapters that go from J to AIR or vice versa...give them a look.

those are kool but i figured out what you meant i just slightly bent up the lil plastick flap/retainer things with a tiny screw driver and the meatal plugs come right out i would have never figured that out thanx again for the help Sky
