Well I took the T maxx apart to do some maintenance and found the the rear diff spool all bent up, anyone have a good explanation as to why or how this happens, the truck runs good nothing is locked up or binding, you would thing for this to happen I would have broke something first.???..

Spools and steel that is not tempered well are know for that.
If your going to be running a spool on hard surfaces, get accustom to that or worse.

Ok, well I think I'm going to put a diff back in if that's the case. Thanks snookman..

+1 to what snook said ... Spools are great for really loose surfaces but they will tear themselves or something else apart on any surface that has even a moderate amount of grip. If you want a really stiff diff without the spool just put a diff back in it and fill the cup with some thick axle grease or look up a product called diff lock or just put something like 500k in it.

Yeah spools are meant for off road only. They state that on the packaging when you buy em. Even if you run off road only with spools like snook said because the steel isnt tempered its still gonna happen eventually.

I guess I'm a bit shocked that nothing broke before or during the spool twisting like it did...

I actually thought about putting spools on my revo before i sold it and opted against them only because i dont necessarily stay off road all the time with my rigs and didnt want to have to keep buying new ones. So i just went with the heaviest diff lube and oil that i could find. Which happens to be lucas oil stabilizer until i find something even thicker.
