I have finally done it with out buying the $250 kit. I have wanted to do this for quite some time now as many of you may know. In the end it cost me around $20 for material's so I could fabricate the engine mounts, and I used a bunch of spare parts I had. I'm running 2 HPI K4.9 .28 engines. I mounted the regular savage fuel tank just to do a test run. I'm going to mount a Raptor 30 fuel tank for a longer run time since the 2 engines burnt through the normal tank in no time. My intent is to design a better mount and some new TVP's and have them cut on a CNC mill.

Ya know, With that much torque and horsepower, Now you have to come up with a 3-4 speed tranny... Get some speed out of those engines...

its not totally finished yet, I still have to build a mount for the large heli fuel tank I'm going to mount. I also have to break in the one engine that I have on there since it is new. More pics will come along with a video or 2

I always thought that if you were doing a dual engine mod, you would need two new engines for equal performance throughout the lifetime.

The engines are equal, both are HPI K4.6's .28

I am going to go with thoroughly bitchin, very nice job. you have me thinking about a winter project now:->

it was actually very simple if you have the tools to do it. mainly a drill press and a metal cutting ban saw. I'm working on the CAD drawings for it now. If it all works out I would be able to make mod kits and sell them way cheaper than the $250 kit from hot bodies. I have to design the engine mount system, TVP's, shock extensions, linkage, and the fuel tank mount. Might work on a cage for it all so i can protect it all.

Oh i am DEFINITELY following this one up close...he he he:p:

Well guys I have looked into having the TVP's and the engine mount cut on a CNC. Sad to say that they want $250 for 1 piece. Instead of paying this I have decided that I will use that money, and put it toward buying my own mill and lathe. I will convert the mill to CNC and cut my parts as well as cutting parts for other RC guys. It will be a few weeks until it is fully up and running, but let me know if you guys need anything cut. I do this a hobby so I would only charge for the cost of the metal required to make the piece rather than for labor and programming time. :)
