I was looking on the internet and saw where one person was talking about putting a turbo on nitro cars and trucks. I think that it would be a good idea but not sure where to go to look at them. I thought about it and you could probably mount it where it was run off the spur gear somehow. But from there dont know. any helpl would be great. Matt

If you want to turbo your Savage, just by one of the new engines...the Picco .26 Outlaw or the Sirio .27 from Trinity. Those should be more than enough for the Savage.

As for turbos for RCs, I've heard mixed evaluations of them...but most were pointing toward the "don't waste your time" kind of thinking. I know that doesn't help you, but you might put your money into a new engine, that doesn't need turbo.

Some say it can be done and others say it can't. If you make one how well would it work?

I have been around the block once or twice and have never seen the fabled turbo I think is kind of like the easter bunny.

I'm sure there is one out there but....
Like they say, If you have enough money anything is possible.

A turbo would be extremly hard to tune. When you put a turbo on a regular engine you have to change the A/F ratio. Because of the simple carbs, with no A/F meters, Simply stated, untill someone comes out with a electronic fuel delivery system, I wouldn't waste my time.

SAme thing to hard to tune with this 2 needle carb they can be hard enough to tune on a v-8 let alone .. i did see one in the back of the new rc action i think it was a prototype by rb i think it wasbut i wont wast money

OK I was thinking of getting the picco .26 and then checking about a turbo just for fun. But I will wait for a while until I hear some more about them and if not probably just drop the idea. Thanks for all of your help. Matt

A friend of mine was looking into a turbo for his HPI... after hours of searching and trying to find out anything about it he gave up.

I don't think it would work, but half of me says that it could work...

a simple turbo motor would'nt need too much more tuning than what these motors already require. The problem lies in the fact that it would need an intercooler, piping, and everything else that goes along with turbo motors, not too mention, the machining of these parts to make them small enough to fit. Also, how much boost could a 3mm turbo impeller provide?

I think the RB concepts S/C would be great.

Conolly (spelling?) does make an electronic fuel delivery system. I've even seen it. Now if only I could find the f*&^%n link! I've been looking for it all throughout the day......

I'm with most on this one. Just get a new mill. The Picco, OFNA Hyper 8 port or the Sirio are all the big players right now for the Savage. I have a Picco on order now.

Oh, and a different pipe may help you too. Just installed mine today (THS pipe) and WHOAH! What a difference! Got about 2 tanks through it and am still re-tuning. Yes, it wheelied a couple of times too! And thats with the stock .21 bb.

OK I was just pondering the idea and thought I would see what you guys thought. Where did you find the picco .26 at I can't find it anywhere. Sorry to get this thread off. Back to the turbo I think it would work but I agree the weight to hp gain would just be a waste of time. Matt

no intercooler needed on a turbo they made many of them with out it ... intercooler would add more power but with all the extra plumbing and weight its a moot point

I agree with rob d I dont think you would need a intercooler I think that if You mount the turbo where it would run off the spur gear so when you gas and the clutch engages turbo kicks in just like a regular motor. I guess basically I am wanting to just force air more like a supercharger. I wasn't planning on running it off the exhaist what do you think about that. Matt

I'd like to see that electric carb thing. I was thinking about that. The carb in your car has that computer brain under the seat. It mixes the fuel for the given temperature, humidity, etc. That would be cool on a small scale. What if you could program it to do difference things at different RPMs? lean it out when you need to low end and fatten it up a little on the top end.

that would be cool.

Errr...that is fuel injection and it's COMPLETELY different from a carburetor (except maybe throttle body injection). Some OS Airplane motors utilize an FI type steup already.

I'd like to see some private party results or testimonials of the RB supercharger.

I would personally like to try it on one of the OS 4-strokes because I think a 4-stroke would bennefit from forced induction much more so than 2-stroke engines.
