does anyone know where to start with tuning my motor???

just stock 2.5 motor....

Reset the needles to factory, (or flush on both), then lean down from there. If your maxx came with a DVD, watch the DVD. Otherwise, the book actually has pretty good info on tuning; if you don't have the manual, it can be downloaded from the excellent http://www.rcdocuments.com/

4 on the high speed and flush on the lown speed. This should get you ball parked!
