I am having trouble tuning my engine. It is a GS racing .25 nitro. The problem started several weeks ago when my engine would only run for about four seconds then would die. Today is the first time I have had it out, to finish breaking in the motor, since then. Well today I could let the motor idle just fine, although when I tried to accelerate the engine would stall. Does any one have any suggestions? Oh yeah, I ran the tank out of fuel and the motor does rev up then, just not with the help of the radio.

Thanks,

Matt

You're still breaking it in, and part of that process includes carb adjustments.
If you haven't made any adjustments on it yet, you'll need to lean the LSN about 1/16 turn. Your starting and idle will improve. If it is still giving you problems accelerating, lean it slightly more. Do NOT be looking for any kind of major punch off the line. If you expect to see that at this early stage, you'll only damage the engine. Make all your throttle moves slow and gentle.
As you go through several more tanks and start to pick up on your high end speed, you'll need to start leaning the HSN slightly.

I am on my fourth tank of fuel on my break in. After the second tank I leaned the HSN by a half a turn and leaned my LSN by one quarter turn. After doing this that is when my idling problem began. Now after running the third tank through, I was not able to accelerate at all without killing the engine. Should I take the engine back to stock settings and try again?

That was the answer for me a lot of times. If I was unsure about the settings, I would return them to factory and start again. Rolex might be able to give you some advice as what to do with the settings you have now though. If you have an IR temp gun, that can help tremendously. And they are pretty cheap, $25 on-line.

Too big of adjustments! 1/8th of a turn at a time on the needles.
Richen the HSN back up and retry. The engine is going to be a pain until you get it warm.
