Ok, since the weather here is cooling off(thank God or something)and I had to tune the 2.5. I noticed the idle was way off,got lazy, and dropped it at the LHS. I don't know what the jackass did, but it's now running like a duratrax.(TURD with wheels).Anyway, the dam LHS is a drive and a half away, and would trust the peepee again. :argue: I tried to get it back to factory, but noticed the idle screw is unscrewed to the last thread. Does anyone know how many turns the stock idle should be turned out from factory. Can someone help this lazy fat basturd?

Usually if you get it flush with the carb body your at least close. What you need to do is take off the airfilter and look at the carb slide. If it clsoes all the way screw in the idle screw until you see a 1mm gap. If you are pushing the carb closed it should not close more than 1mm or so. Once you get the engine started you can fine tune it but a 1mm gap should be close.

I tried doing that but it won't start. should I richen or lean out the low end, or should I just back out the idle screw until it starts. Go easy, remember I was stupid enough to let someone else mess with it.

if you went back to factory on the high / low speed needles, you can lean it out some...factory setting is very rich for break in & such..

to start more easily you can heat the engine with a blow dryer before starting, also your
radio should have a throttle trim you can turn that up a little to start it

thanks, I'll give it a try. If that doesn't work, I could always buy a nitro boat and use it as an anchor. :jk: always wanted an OS 18 anyway.

now that was a real helpful post ...i guess the next question you have about your savage we should just link to hpi.com for you?

Well, he needed stock needle settings for a 2.5 to start from. I'm not sure of them so I linked to their web site so he can find them.

No need to be rude.

Confusious say:

No let nuther man mess with your carb, till you see how his runs.

Sorry, just couldn't resist.
Got a few know-it-alls where I fly. They always want to help, but their poop won't run. Just a few people I trust to help me when I need it. Good luck.

Stock LSN = Flush with housing
Stock HSN = 4 1/2 turns out
Idle stop should be about .020"
Your better running fat than lean to start. HTH

Yeah, like I said I got lazy. The worst part is I race locally with this guy, and his poop runs great. Holy crap :gulp: you don't think this peepee was setin' me up :ponder: Come to think of it, I smoked his as last week!!!!!
:sniper:
That's OK, I did what you guys said, only took about 1/2 hour once I had the idle set.

THANKS again, it's running better than last week. Wait til that ass see's me this weekend :boxing:
