i got great deal on a team associated mgt... was originally a pro .21 but has been upgraded with an axial .28 1s spec race engine. the engine will start and run, but runs wide open.... i have reversed the servo from the remote and set the throttle trim all the way down and that seems to help some, but the truck still has a too much throttle, and i have to pinch the fuel line to stop the truck... I'm afraid that the lil engine will blow with that kind of rpm's and no load on the tires. any help with this will be great. I'm new to nitro but am a quik learner. thanks again, nick

Check your clutch spring...could be broke.

i dont know if it makes a diffrence if the tires spin with a broken clutch spring, but all four wheels where digging... and hard! it about pulled me off the porch b4 i could pinch the fuel line... lol so its got plenty of power. just not harnessable at this point. there is a local guy i know thats gonna take a look at it for me, he has been racing nitro for about 10 years, but id like to fix it myself if possible.

Take off the air filter so you can see into the carb. DO NOT start the engine till you have adjusted all your linkages and radio settings to where they should be. Make sure the throttle and brake servo is properly centered and adjusted for full throttle, idle, then brake position. When you KNOW it's all working correctly and smoothly with no binding, THEN you can start the engine to make the final tweaks.

Check out this thread for info on setting the carb...https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60832

FYI....the tires will spin uncontrollably with a broken clutch spring...trust me. This is why I installed a failsafe....lol...great advice Rolex...;)

thats another thing i was gonna ask about, failsafes... my mgt had a little red box that was inline with the throttle servo was made by dynamite and says "race guard" on it... is that a failsafe? if so i think its bad, i took it out so the throttle would work. b4 removal i was only able to use steering reliably, the throttle would work intermittenly or would "studder" when applying any throttle/brake. i did notice the other day when looking at it there is a tiny "set" button on it, do u press that after powering the radio and truck on?
