So I've had way to many issues with my 3.3 trying to get it tuned correctly. Some how, no matter how much I richen the mixture, I'm burning up glow plugs and running hot like it's my job. Now, I have sealed the engine and the carb (the carb twice because I cracked it the first time and had to replace it) and I'm still running lean.

Has anyone had this problem or have any suggestions as to what I can do to get a somewhat good tune (or atleast something that is better than what I have got)?

Thanks,
Adam

It's sucking air somewhere. Is the block possibly cracked? Ever landed on the head hard? Did you use green slime or Vaseline on the needles? Hsn housing sealed? Head bolts tight? Lsn too lean? Just a few ideas for ya.

The block is ok, I used a different kind of sealant on the HSN but that's good, the head bolts are tight and the settings of the carb are factory sense I had so much trouble trying to tune and was going to start all over.

Now, I did land on the head one good time while warming it up with the body off the other day. I'll take a look at that tonight when I get off work.

Check the brass nut on the hsn I've had it loosen up on me before. Be careful when you tighten it you can easily strip or possibly crack the composite carb about 1/4 turn should be enough.

Yea, I made that problem the first go around.

I just pulled everything apart and completely resealed the engine. I found no cracks in the block, head, or back plate. I didn't seal the EZ Start or the exhaust manifold the first time so I sealed them now thinking that maybe that's where the air could be coming from. I did notice a good size scratch in the block just inside where the carb slides in. It was obviously caused by something extremely hard falling down into it but I have no idea what it could have been. It's not in a location where it affects the crankshaft in any way.

I'll let it dry overnight and then run it tomorrow night when I get off work.
