tuning an overly hopped up revo! Help!

For those of you who read this in the "welcome the new guy" thread...disregard...just figured I'd put this in the proper place and see if anybody else bites.

my revo was pretty much all stock except for a few suspension changes until I decided to change the stock air filter out for an aftermarket one. Its one of those that has the outer filter with the inner foam. Seemed to breath better. Then I went for the fun dual exhaust from integy. As hard as it was to try and break in the engine from the start without playing too much, I probably blipped the throttle a little more than I should have. I've run it pretty hard since and I've probably got 30 or so hours on the engine at this point. At this point its hard to start and hard to keep running when I do start it. I'm thinking its a mixture of temp changes here in washington, new air filter, new exhaust, and a possible loss of compression. I bought a new sleeve and piston but have yet to install it. Should I go back to stock pipe and air filter before changing out the sleeve and piston and the break it in like new again? Or should I break it in with the aftermarket parts installed? At this point, where should my settings be for rich/lean fuel, idle setting, etc.?
 
30 hours we don't go off of how many gallons of gas in the the engine and thay not a very hoped up revo srry. But ur engine should be fine still no need for piston and sleeve its ur tuning.
 
The air filter has different airflow than stock and the pipe different backpressure. So it will require some retuning.
 
with better air getting in you may be a little bit on the lean side
 
Yeah, but if the pipe gives less backpressure than the one he had, he may be way lean. I would say go back to factory and tune from there.
 
yeah id go with flanders but id prolly start a little bit richer since that dual pipe is going to have less back pressure and the new filter will let more air in
 
Keep the air filter, DITCH the dual exhaust. The stock exhaust is better. If it does not idle and you are always trying to tune it every 2 minutes, rebuild the engine.
Do not skimp on the rebuild, a simple piston and sleeve change can may work.
But the main bearings in the 3.3 are not very durable, I highly reccomend replacing both the engine bearings as well.
 
So I read all of your advice and spent the weekend trying to tune with the dual exhaust on there. Just didn't get quite the performance I got out of the stock pipe. So after a day of frustration I ripped that sucker off of there and went back to what worked. After a quick retune all is well. I'm still interested in putting an aftermarket pipe on there though. Call me curious...or addicted. Who knows what about the Buku pipes? Anything good?

It depends on how it's running after you replace the stock pipe, it will change your tune for sure.

If it was me, I would reset my needles to factory settings and tune from there. HSN= 4 turns out from closed. LSN= put screw flush with the surrounding area. Those settings should get you close, pay special attention to your temps while tuning.
 
There is already a thread open on the Buku pipes. Check it out...
I have a Buku and although I haven't fitted it having read the instructions I dont think it would work on the 3.3
The THS works best on them.
