got a used savage XL and while tuning it i mistakenly adjusted the mid range screw. I had originally turned it flush with carb body and then adjusted from their. The top end is running perfect shifting properly and not over heating. The only issue i have is it has a slight bog on takeoff from a dead start. I'm assuming i just need to adjust the low speed needle a bit. Is their a factory setting for the mid range screw or should i leave it now since the mid and top end are good?

Gonna be a while for that stripped the engine down to seal it and broke the carb gasket. So I figured its all apart rebuild the carb and engine and start fresh.

Well after a long wait on parts from my hobby getting screwed on the part that did come in. Cancelling my orders and seeking eBay. Parts are now coming in. Few more days and ill be back running

Finally got to take for a test run today. Could not tune it as I could not get a good run with all the fresh snow. It starts way better. About 5 pulls of the roto start and she fired right up. Even when it stalled it started with a 1 second burst. Engine seems good and strong the low end bog is gone just need some dry roads so I can do the final tune

I did find the original problem. High speed screw gasket had dryer out broke as soon as I tried to take it off and med speed screw the same thing. No way they could seal. I think the next time ill just order a new carb. A few of the rings were a real pain to get on. Had to walk away a few times
