tuneing my engine F4.1 BIG BLOCK!!! HELP!!!

it is hard to get my engine tuned properly :/ my engine seems to want to run rich all the time and if i lean it out it will die when pressing the throttle, its a good thing to run it a little bit rich as it dose not damage the engine, but it drinks a tank of fuel in 5 minutes, and is costing me far too much, can anyone give me the right turns all 3 needles should be on? cheers
 
How old is it? There is no perfect number of turns on the needles.
That is one of the easiest engines to tune, so you may need to check for leaks. Start with a new exhaust gasket, pipe coupler and fuel lines. Make sure your fuel tank is not cracked.
 
cheers scrogg, i have bought new fuel lines, new exhaust gasket, new pipe coupler and i have checked the fuel tank over thoroughly and cleaned it out, no leaks there, which is why iam getting annoyed with it, the engine is a .25 i think :/ a F4.1 Big Block, i dont know what else to do it is frustrating me a lil, i think it may be the head seals/shimms, beacuse when you look in the engine down to the glow plug, you can see fuel coming out, but the glow plug is in tight with the washer, :/
 
Hmm, lean the lsn after you make sure the head bolts are tight and install a new glow plug. Check that you have not stripped out the glow plug threads in the head button. I bet the LSN is set too rich causing the engine crank case to fill up with fuel. Best way to tune is set the HSN so that the truck shifts to second gear good and gets decent speed. Then start leaning the lsn until you get a nice hard launch with no bogg. Then adjust your idle speed down with the idle screw and set the linkage to match it.
