Could somebody explain why it is that i have to run my HSN at 4 3/4 turns out from full in and my LSN 1/2 turn out from flush ?

I have checked for air leaks, none present, all engine bolts are tight, carb is not leaking air through, backplate is up tight and not leaking air, fuel lines are brand spanking new, glow plug is brand spanking new.

Engine is not exactly new, but pinch is good still.

I'm running 16% nitro fuel with a traxxas long-medium plug, standard pipe, standard air filter etc

I'm at a loss myself, never had to have it at these settings before as it always ran fine.........until today that is.

Did some crude work its way into your hsn? Sounds like you have about everything covered Tiger. Possibly a hsn housing leak? Just tryin' to kick you some ideas...

i have been through the engine with a fine tooth comb matt, nothing untoward, i replaced the hsn unit before I ever ran the engine after i bought the rig used. Tank is airtight too.

Backplate, head and everything else is buttoned up nice and tight with no leaks. Exhaust seal is new and fitted nice and tight with some heavy duty cable ties keeping it in it's place.

I may just dump the 2.5 and fit a BB conversion ahead of when I had planned to do it since I am getting so darn frustrated about it.

It's really strange. It's running so rich, yet it behaves like it is ultra lean that's what is bugging me.....................

You got the stock pipe on it? Mine did that to me once, it was my pipe. I don't know exactly what happened, but I had another stock pipe. That fixed the problem. I cleaned my carb anyway but that wasn't it. Also my 3.3's always like to be a little bit out from flush.

yeah, it has the stock 2 chamber tin can, i have a spare and i did try running it, even that didn't change things. I'm wondering if the front bearing has worn and is sucking air.

I have a spare block with bearings, so i may give that a try, i need to pull the engine to sort the pull start, so i will try the spare block then i guess.

That's possible. I've had bad luck with trx rear crank bearings, It leads to a front bearing leak quickly. I actually know the sound of it now, I can catch it before the rod starts to scrape the case...LOL.....I hate it when that happens.

hahahahaa...........crud !!!!

ound out what the problem was and boy did I ! The body of the carb was cracked around the HSN that knackers me for a run till friday at the earliest !!!! aaah well, at least i know what it is anyways.............i hope...................................

err................yeah.

The simple answer to that is yes i have and no i have not. i found the crack on the carb, but that was not the reason i stripped out the engine. I stripped it out to swap the block for the spare i had with good bearings.

So, now i have a good block & bearings, i know my P+L has a good pinch still, my clutch is mint, just DO NOT have a CARB! AAAAAAAAARGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need my daily nitro fix !!!!!!!!!
