When the engine warms up and I have about 1/2 a tank through it, it will die and does not want to restart. If I wait about 2-3 mins, it will start back up without much trouble. I checked the temp when running and it seems to be running at about the recommended temp. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is this a brand new 2.5 Mill? If so then I would follow the DVD and use their method. Prior to any break in for any engine I go ahead and seal the back plate and carb.

In your case make sure you read the break in instructions asthey ask you to set the carb. normally it will be set very rich which is why your engine is dying.

let us know what you have done so we can get you back up and runng.

Jon

i was wondering...what do u seal the backplate and carb with?..do u put a thin layer of silicone?

A little goes a long way. Just enough to go around not a big gob of it.

hey thanx guys...pretty new to these trucks..i used to run 1/10 scale stadium trucks..but now goin bigger..thanx for the info.

This is a new engine. I have about 1 gal of fuel through it. I broke it in according to the directions on the dvd. I have not adjusted the settings very much. It seems to run so good for the first little bit that I did not figure that I needed to adjust. Is it running to rich? I can try to lean it out a bit and see what happens.

Thanks

Sounds like it could be too rich. What temp is it running at? From what people say that particular engine likes to run hot.

i'm having this same problem, i broke it in right. it will run fine with good performance then die about quarter to half tank, then not start for three minutes or so. it is not the temp because i was running it tonight and it was maybe like 25 degrees or less. but it has been doing this since this summer. could it be plastic in the hsn? i heard that was happining with the revo. any ideas?

you haven't had the air filter fall off while you were driving it have you? although you don't have much fuel through it,it sounds like the symptoms of an engine that's lost compression.my brother in law had a rustler with a .15 and the same thing would happen,it would die after a few mins and not restart till it cooled back down.I took the engine apart and found there was almost no pinch in the sleeve,I could push the piston about 3/4 of the way out the top of the sleeve.I'm not saying this is what's wrong with yours, just something else to consider.
also check the carb for anything that might be hindering flow through the fuel ports,I've heard of these engines gumming up in the HSN port and causing a lean condition.
