Just wonndering what a good mill would be for a truggy maybe an RB or somthing.

RB S7, RB WS7, Novarossi P5. Any one of those would be an excellent mill. It mainly all depends on how much you got to spend and what size you prefer as far as .21 or .28.

it's just like asking what's a good buggy mill.....
all the same rules apply....what's your track like? long or short?..what gear ratio are you using....some mills will do better w/ low gearing and high revs...some do low end torque better and you overgear em......

Truggy powerplant

I was going to start anotgher Thread but found this obe and decided to revive it.

Right, I have an Ofna Blazer that comes with a HN .25 engine. It's got ample grunt for bashing but seemed a little slow on the track compared to others.
I've just bought an RB S7-II engine and can't wait to test it - weather permitting.
Have any Members junked their truggy .25/.26/.27/.28 powerplants for a decent .21 engine like the S7 or OS etc...
If so was there a loss in torque versus a clear advantage in speed.
The reason I ask is that I also have a new LRP Z.28 Spec2 (7 Port) engine and I was wondering if this would be a better choice than the RBS7-II in a truggy.
I also own a buggy and I was wondering if the S7-II would be better suited to the truggy.

I dropped to a .21 but not by choice....after going from a lemon FR .27 to a VZ-b....I saw a small drop in bottom end and a HUGE drop in top end.....however I am finding the VZ-b to be a much easier to drive mill...where a small throttle blip before would just break traction on just about anything the VZ-b gives it enough lag to let the tires grip better......I do run a super light truggy though.......
I've been hearing more complaints about the +.21 size mill not lasting as long and snapping conrods alot......if you think about it it makes sense, the larger BB mills use a conrod similar in design to a .21 but have increased torque and HP.....they need to start producing parts specificly designed for the larger mills and not use whatever parts they aready make for .21 mills......

Engines

Plaid,

Once again an excellent and informative reply! Thanks.
I think I am going to have to do some "R&D" on this and try both engines and draw my own conclusions.
I will see if I cannot source old Ofna engine mounts to get the LRP Z.28 Spec2 mill mounted into the Blazer, at 3.6BHp (claimed) it should be a flyer, but then again I know that the RBC S7-II is such a fast engine even though it's "only" a .21
I agree that a lot of the bigger bore engines are re-sleeved .21 units and that is the problem. I chose the LRP as the claim it was designed as a big bore engine, hence the issue with the massive crank diameter and the lack of engine mounts for it!

I'll keep you informed, now if only it was spring....
