Truckzilla?

Captain Crash - I would take a wait and see attitude right now. There seems to be a customer service problem with HB right now, and a shortage of parts. I would wait and see if this situration corrects itself before I invest in a conversion kit. I have a truckzilla now and I am sort of afraid to run it because I am concerned that if I break something no replacement parts.

Nitrohead Hot bodies will be getting their act together I am almost sure of it. They are a division of HPI or something like that and HPI has always had great customer service. Their hold times suck ass but good Customer Service none the less.

Newnitrofan who told you that hb was part of hpi or even affiliated for that matter?

Truckzilla?

Newnitrofan - I have heard rumors that HB was part of HPI on the other forums too, whether it is or not I don't know but what I do know is poor customer support can cause even a good product to fail!! So I hope HB gets their act togather.

puffnstuff this should be kind of obvioius just by looking at what hot bodies products actually fit HPI products. Also did you ever notice how the HPI 21BB is in the Hot Bodies lightning pro.

Well I just posted this question to hpi in their general forum so I can get an answer straight from the source. I don't care one way or the other but I try to substantiate things before I broadcast them as fact.

Puffnstuff whatever floats your boat dude. I could honestly care less your out come from what they answer. More power to you in your quest. I would be interested as to why you are taking the stance you are. Do you have any relevant experience with hot bodies customer service??

It's kind of odd, but my LHS supports bothe HPI and traxxas, but nearly all of the HB items are for HPI. HB CVDs, HB shocks, HB this, HB that, all for HPI and namely the savage. And I sure haven't heard about a Maxx version of truckzilla.

As for the 21bb and the mill in the lightning, they are made by Ofna (or whoever makes them for Ofna), and they both suck. I have the one from the Lightning RTR and 2 HPI 21bbs.

Personally, I have used alot of HB stuff on my Savage, for a while at least. The threaded shocks were a disaster and I have since gone back to the stock ones. The CVDs are pretty good, baring the fact that the drive pins kept comming out due to thee pesky grub screw, the pipe is really loud with the Picco (Ofna) Outlaw 26. The wheel drive claming hexes are outstanding, and the vented metal brake simply rocks.

As to customer service for HB, never dealt with them. If poop breaks due to crappy design, I just chalk it up and get something that will work, or fix it myself.

Truckzilla...

I have only gone through 5 tanks of nitro on mine, but so far so good. I have not done any serious bashing yet, basically it's still in break-in period. I am very happy with it though, it's got A LOT of power which takes a lot of getting used to, because my old engine was a 21BB.

I had a bit of challenge adjusting the throttle linkage because the engine moved back about 1/2 an inch. Otherwise, like I said I pumped it a bit in the snow and I have to hold back the trigger quite a bit because it wants to just GO.

Truckzilla

SavageRockS - MY results pretty much match yours!! So far so good with Truckzilla.

I hate to say this, but there has always been a customer service problem and parts shortage with Hot Bodies. Yes, they can make some nice products...as long as you have no problems with them. The first sign of trouble from you, the consumer, and the customer service dries up as quickly as a glass of water in the Sahara at noon.

As for suggestions one way or the other, I would recommend sticking with what you've got until you are certain you are ready for a change. From what I have read, the .46 is a little ungainly in the tuning area.
