This is probably a stupid question but if your truck is running hot what would u do to lower the temp?

Stop running the truck. Then adjust the settings and keep checking the temps.

No question is a stupid question. If u use the search fuction u will get more info.

I'm kinda hesitand cuz i dont want to mess it up or anything. I just got it and broke it in, and took it to my LHS and he was a complete a@s cuz i didnt buy it there.

every engine in every truck is different, what engine is it? and i assume its in a t maxx... you also have to factor heat, humidty and elevation (and to think..if it wasn't for you guys here i wouldnt even know that)

Thanks for your help, its the most iv gotten since i bought my t-maxx.

I'm not sure

the guy at the hobby shop set it. The truck is running great or sounds great right now. I'm working on getting a temp gauge to see how hot it is.but i think it was running at 300 when the hobby guy ws tinkering w/ it . I dont know I'm planning on testing it this weeekendto see if its stilll running hot.

thanks for all your help

T-Maxx Engines run pretty hot for the most part. I have seen temps run in the high 200's to 300 in the past. Make sure you are using a fuel with plenty of lubrication content. As others have stated there are a ton of factors that can make your temps fluctuate. Its always a good Idea to start at factory defaults and take temp readings. That will let you know how much you can lean it on any given day. You can get a decent temp guy for 30 beans now days... its a tool any Nitro R/C guy should have in his tool kit.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.

The fuel I'm useing is 16% oil i think it says backyard basher on the label and the color is pink.if that even helps. the say to use traxxas fuel but i got this insted.

I dont if this will help U but when my maxx was running hot I first made it run richer then I cut out about 1/4 of my windshield on the left side and cut 1/4 out of the back on the right my lhs guy said this increases air flow but more dust gets in.It helped me but I dont know if U want to cut the body.

fisherman, Maxxes tend to run hot. Just make sure you adjust the carb correctly. Learn how to do it yourself. Don't depend on th LHS guys, cause they will quickly get sick of seein' you come back for more tuning.

These engines are pretty simple, once you get to know them. However, there is a learning curve to go through. We've all been there. It's best to go and read up on some of the basics.

Here's a tuning site by Traxxas: www.traxxas.com/support/p...ning25.htm

Here's some engine tuning tips by Ofna: www.ofna.com/tune.html

Here's a "RC Car Tuning Guide" with good info. Click on "Nitro Motor Tuning Basics":
www.wildhobbies.com/rc_cars/tuning.asp

Don't forget, tune HSN first, then LSN. In other words, make full speed passes and tune the HSN so the car has power, but still makes some smoke and does not overheat. Then, tune in the LSN so that you get good, snappy performance. Remember to err on the rich side. If you go too lean, you will toast that little 15 engine in a hurry.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

thanx for the help

I cut the whole wind shield out and put mesh screen in its place to let air in but not dirt and cut out the bottom half of the back wind shield. I ordered a golden horizon cooling head bought a temp gauge and they should be here sometime next week. I also printed out tuning pointers that chevy ss gave me. thanx for all your help.
