Got my T-Maxx up and running. It has a Sirio .18 motor. I get the moto running and try to get the truck to move but it just sits there and kinda jerks alittle but but won't go anywhere. I would assume it is something in the tranny but have no idea where to start looking since I am a complete newb. I know that the drive shaft is working because with the motor off, I pick the truck up and spin one wheel and they all turn. Also, while running the shaft will spin, but really slow and jerky. Any direction on what to look for? And yes, the gears are meshing and turning from the motor output to the tranny.

Sounds like the reverse servo is not fully enguageing..Try too flip the third channel switch back and forth and get it locked in to place..

^^^same advice here^^^

My wife's T-Maxx did this a few times. Servo hasn't moved the gear enough.

Ditto ... or the motor is not bolted down.

That is whats going on with my friends Tmaxx right now. The motor mount bolts and poping out causing the motor to jump around and not engauge. This alos causes it to jerk around a lot. Now since this was a motor swap, try double checking all the connections and servos are completely turning etc.

Have fun with the new mill

First off what did you do to it, what did you have apart and what did you replace.

I took the motor off the truck, tore it down and cleaned it. Put everything back together and reinstalled. Motor is running fine and the gear on the output shaft is spinning and meshing with the tranny gear.

Motor is rock solid. I will try the channel 3 switch and the servos when I get home ( I am at work now). I will let you guys know what I find.

For the record, I know nothing about this truck or it's past problems or maintenance. I got the chasis for free and have been tinkering with it trying to learn about it and the RC hobby.

If you still have reverse, and if you arent revving the engine fast enough, then it will be slow and jerky (no comments please). Is it revving at full throttle and doing this, or when you ease on the the throttle?

It is reved up pretty high. Not maxed out but darn near. I think something in the tranny is not engaging correctly or something. I still need to look close at the servos and make sure they are adjusted right and if all else fails, tear down the tranny to see what maybe going on inside.

Oh really :ponder2:

Here I was thinking my friends Tmaxx did this because the loose motor mount screws. But it still did it today after I installed new ones with loctight. The motor is tight and it jerks around at low speeds/idle speeds:ponder2:

The spur gear spins freely if I try to spin it. Is it supposed to do that?

Could you have put the clutch shoes on the wrong way on the engine?

No idea. I will take some pics this evening and maybe you can tell me. All I know is everything went together without having to force anything and I didn't have any left over parts, so I thought I was doing good at that point:ponder2:

yes the spur gear should spin freely by any chance did you take out the rear ends if you did make sure you put them back in right if you put them in wrong they will work against each other and not move at all

Also, while tearing it down to clean the truck and pull the tranny for inspection, I found that the mounting tabs on the T/B servo were broken and was barely being held on by the screws. Does this mean a new servo or can the case be replaced?

yes you can buy a case for it but it will more likely break again i tried this a few times and keeps breaking the stock traxxas plastic if i were you upgrade it for a few bucks more with a hitec 325 hb its a ball bearing servo with karbonite gears its fast and is plenty for the throttle break and only cost 12 or 13 bucks new

Double check your clutch shoes. I did the same thing the first time I tore down my RS4-3 SS TC. On the stand it would turn the CB and seemed like power was getting past that point, but on the ground it just sat there.

check the pin on the 2 speed shaft in the tranny (the small gear that faces the other way)

mine snapped and i had these symptoms.
