When i roll the truck forwards or backwards on the ground, there is a clicking sound and resistance to roll. It did this right out of the box and has not gotten any better or worse over the month or so that i have owned it. Any ideas?

When the truck is running and stopped, it repeatedly lurches forwards and then stops, without any throttle applied. As soon as it gets up to speed, it smooths out and runs perfect, but the problem returns as i slow down again. I've heard of many people having this same problem with their T-Maxx, but I have never heard of reluctance to roll and clicking when the truck is turned off, as in my previous post.

My 4908 tmaxx did something like that too it was the rear diff. It looked as if the ring gear had some flashing on it from the casting process. It wasn't half as noticeable as what you're describing and on mine it went away. I would start poppin driveshafts off and turning things by hand you'll find out where to look that way.

I take it your truck still has reverse? That's way it takes off rough. Forward only conversions are the best low dollar upgrade you can do to a Maxx. As far as clicking while it's off, I'd pop the pin screws out of the center shafts so you can isolate the front and rear end. Then spin each tire in different directions, holding the diff pinions in different spots to find out if a diff is damaged.

Yeah make sure it's not idling too high also, might be your "lurching" problem. Does it have reverse?

Correct. Too high of an idle will cause the clutch shoes to engage for an instant, and that will slow it down enough to make them release again, causing the lurching at idle.
Lower the idle till it sits still, then we'll work on the rest.

Thanks to all for the help. I'll most likely have to wait until wednesday or thursday to fire it up, the forecast up here in Calgary looks pretty grim for the next few days (-20C, -30C). And then theres the 3ft of snow outside. :)

3 feet of snow is only a problem if you don't have a Savage. :hehe:
