My buddy had me put in his Savage .25 a brand new K5.9, and 3 speed tranny. I put in at the same time new clutch shoes, bearings, and slipper pad. The problem I am having is this...when I give it throttle it moves very slow, then it stops and the engine revs real high. He was having the same problem prior to me replacing the engine, and tranny. I can't even get it to move enough to break in the engine, and tune it up properly. I am confused here, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there.

Firstly check that the spur gear isn't slipping. Make sure that the nut is tight. Also check that you haven't put the clutch in backwards (shoes in wrong way). It does sound like something is not engaging properley. A quick check to see if the tranny is working is to hold the spur gear and try and push the truck backwards. If the wheels lock them your running drive is ok. Then I would say its the clutch.

Hope this helps.

I held the slipper and tried to push the truck backwards, it felt as though the wheels locked, however, I was able to push is backwards with a little extra effort (probably shouldn't have to push so hard I guess). Which way should the clutch shoes be pointing? Thanks.

very good i like the it will also help me when i have to change the clutch bell.
