RC Driving Style
Ok, me and a friend went to hit the track the other day. He gets the ol` loudmaxx running and gets everything set to go. Heads out and runs the track once to warm the engine. Ok, time for hell he said.. First jump.. BAM.. It's laying the ass on the ground.

Now.. I don't know if this is fate. But we need a solution to some of these problems.

First a list of things he broke...

Font bulkheads (twice)
Front shock tower
Front body mount posts
Front drive shaft
Front A-Arms (I knew that was coming)

Rear bulkheads
Rear shock tower
Rear drive shaft
Rear body mount
Rear turnbuckles.

Here's the deal.. This ALL happened in three trips to the track..

Since he doesn't have a computer, he asked me to post a question...

"When bashing or driving the track, what can help me stop breaking things EVERYTIME that I run my loudmaxx?"

Well, go at it.. I told him aluminum mounts and RPM everything else..

In other words, aluminum bulkheads, shock towers, body mounts, and RPM A-Arms and skids.

Anything else that could help us, would be greatly appreciated. :)

here is something he can try: Learn to drive, keep it lid side up, learn to drive, keep the tires side down, and if that fails, he can always learn to drive....cause it sounds like he can't

Well he can drive... Just needs to be more "durable" for his style. He can almost keep up with my RC10 now LOL

Just everytime he follows me to a jump... It breaks. He got really pissed last time.. Once we got home this is what he told me.

"I'm not going back down there until I get something that can handle that kind of abuse... like your RC10." I was rollin :)

Tell him to sell the Maxx and get a real truck like the SAVAGE. There ya go, problem solved!!!:D

When he is breaking these parts is it excessively cold outside? Cold wheather makes pastic very brittle and that would be my first thought at to why so many parts are breaking. I have a Maxx and it does not break like that and I jump the snot outta it.

I echo the question humboldtblazer asked. Is it really cold where you are?

I pretty much beat the snot out of my T-Maxx and did not break a bulkhead until the temps were near freezing.

I further echo Nitro Dave's suggestion of the learning to drive...there's a right way to drive wrecklessly and a wreckless way. One kills the truck the other does not.

As for other suggestions, you have about covered it with your ideas on metal placement and rpm placement. I would suggest going with something other that metal body posts...a couple landings on the lid and those things will tear the body up (cheaper to replace I know, but they do add up).

tmaxxs dont seem too durable do they...

I have no durability issues with my maxx except for the screws. After a few rebuilds the stripped junk.

Get a #1 and #2 metric philips screwdriver and you shouldnt strip any more. Made a world of difference for me. Now, I'm a believer too :)

Well... I dunno... It hasn't been freezing here when he's broke it.. Only once did that happen, and that was during his break in...

He lost steering control and it the battle with the Ford Contour was lost.. So was the body mounts. :)

And he can't break my RC10 either.. I don't know what the problem is. He isn't really that hard on the thing.. I don't know why it's been breaking that badly.

I do have #2 and a #1 Craftsman hardened tiped screwdrivers and I still strip stock Traxxas screws. I have a Storm (duh) and I have yet to strip 1 screw and I take that thing apart way more than my Maxx.
