depends on the the tyre and application, some guys are rolling the edges, myself I'm using squar edges dont trim them at al
I'm a square guy as well.
I have used scissors in the past. Cut off the edge all the way around. It left one long triangular strip on my bench when I was done. Kind of like pealing an orange.
