I'm new to the r/c racing world. My revo is completely stock. I noticed my wheel hex hubs are cracked. I'm assuming this is commom because their only plastic. What brand of aluminum hex hubs would you recommend?

Also, what kind of upgrades would you recommend to be made to my r/c to gain durability? Speaking of durability, my antenna takes a beaten! Can I coil up the antenna underneath the body and still get the proper range as if it was outside the body?

That raises a very good question. Whenever I drive my buggy around, it flips often and the antenna straw recently broke off at the base, forcing me to remove the radio cover to push it out. I wanted to know if taping the antenna wire to the spoiler will still give me good range, or some other way of extending it without an antenna straw.

i punch my hole in the back glass area of the body (truck) and run the antenna out the back, you may see a small diminish in range, but i doubt it will be a big difference, i havent noticed it yet. seen here in these pics.

this way when you do a shiney side slide, the antena isnt smashed between the truck and the ground

Same goes with a buggy, you can stick the antenna under the wing and it won't hurt range all that much.

oh and about your original question. I've never personaly broken a hex on the revo, maybe you got a dud? I've heard people running savage hexes, (14 and 17mm) or upgrading to the 23mm hexes.

edit: on the revo, rpm arms help alot, but the revo is pretty tough as it is, i would just run it, then if you break, replace with rpm.

I've never cracked one on my revo either, My guess is that you tightened too much. OR you ran with a nut loose and the wheel beat the crap out of it. The plasitc ones are cheap, I would just buy a few more of those.

My buddy just bought a revo also and he has 2 crack hex hubs. You mentioned that I maybe tightened too much, I tightened the lock nuts to the stopping point, which I might add that I didn't apply pressure after that point. Is that too tight?

You may have just gotten a some bad ones. I've been bashing mine and haven't really broken anything yet except for the reverse and a plastic spur.:eyes:

Ya if i were you id just buy the plastic ones. I've seen people upgrade to alumiun and the inside of there wheel strips. Rare but it happens. Pluse the plastic ones are dirt cheap!
