Its a decent car. Its one if the fastest out of the box but there are better handling cars out there. If its your first one and the price is right I say go for it.
That is a Traxxas 4-Tec, a ready to run (RTR) car. It is good for a beginner, but for about the same price also look at the HPI RS4-3 RTR and the NTC3 RTR.
I personally would stay away from it. I had one, and had nothing but problems with it. It might have just been a bad egg, But Id never buy one again. Mine got stolen and I honestly felt bad for the guy who stole it..Id say get a Ntc3 or a Rs4. They seem more dependable, and theres alot of parts available for it.
These guys have some good advice.
Go to your local hobby shop and talk to the people there. One very important issue is to get a car that you can get parts for locally.
I know that the Traxxas has an electric starter but the other 2 cars mentioned are better handling.
Yeah, the speed of the 4tec was awesome, but the handling sucked. And them two dont really go together. Plus the engine always seemed to run hot for me, and was hard to keep in tune. But like I said, I might have just gotten a bad one.
I bought my Rs4 used. The 15fe is a very tempramental mill (The ones they come with) and I wouldnt suggest it if its going to be your 1st nitro. If ya buy a used one, look for one with a aftermarket engine in it already (I wish I would have) but the car itself handles nice and has a nice stance. I bought mine off ebay for $160 to my door. (Rs4 3 Rtr) I recently just sold it, and plan to buy a Ntc3 in the near future. If ya keep your eyes peeled in the classifieds section, I'm sure you can find a nice one within your price range. Theres alot of nice rc's in this crew.
