After asking around about what fuel to run I decided to go ahead and use Traxxas 20% fuel to break in my new T-maxx. After the break in process the truck was running great, I went up to my LHS just to look around and I saw the Byrons fuel was a very reasonable price. 22 bucks a gallon, compared to 41 for the Traxxas. The guy at the hobby shop recommended trying out the byron's so I bought some. I get home and try it out seems to have the same power but is actually running 22 degrees cooler than the traxxas?? Why is this? I have heard its because the Traxxas fuel as more luburicants in it and is more oily and this causes the little bit of a hotter temp? Now I know there are some(only a few that I have seen) people who says Byron's makes their Traxxas engine run crappy. Has anyone else ever had trouble with the Byron's? I ask because 'I'm really considering using the Byron's from now on.

When I had my revo I ran byrons with no issues. Always started easy and never had a oneway bearing issues either.

What damage can a fuel with too much oil really do to a motor besides make it smell and smoke a little bit? I ask because so many people say it is crucial to use the Traxxas fuel for break in. My LHS manager said to just use the Byrons. However I know how some people swear up and down that changing fuels makes the engine run way out of tune.

Too much oil adds hydraulic pressure. The piston has to compress more liquids, and as we know, liquids don't compress. So that pressure has to go somewhere. Mainly the rod, rod bushing and crank bearings. Tuning is usually needed when switching fuel brands. But tuning is usually needed from run to run anyways.

$41.00 for a gallon of fuel is just rediculous. I only pay 28 in my area.

I used Maxxy's fuel for the longest, but then my LHS didn't have any, so I bought Byron's, and there was a huge difference between the two, not even in price
