Where can I find info on lap counters and timing software.. I have a track and we would like to upgrade it! What is the most popular kind of timming system used out there and where can I find it?-xmas- arty:

AMB is the way to go, where to get new I am not sure of at the moment, but AMB is what everyone run with the personals.

AMB pretty much has the market cornered. I believe there's some different types of software out there but AMB has the equipment pretty much locked up with transponders and the rest of the set-up. Kinda sucks cause they're rapin' everyone of us.

Ain't that the truth! I paid $75 bucks for my transponder and now they are selling them at around $100 bucks. My LHS was only able to get about 20 of them this year and that is not even close to the number needed to supply the folks that need them. I got lucky and bought mine early, but AMB makes them so hard to get, for whatever reason. With all the technology out there, I wonder why they do not have any completition? They sure need some!

What they need to watch out for now is the telemetry system with the Spektrum. There's a lap counter available for it. I believe Nomadio has something similar.

Just make sure that when you get yout lap counting equipment, you can use personal transponders and handout transponders at the same time.

I thought they had an international Patent on them, at least that's what i was told.
