Is there a steel gear kit that I can get for my traxxas revo 2.5? Are the transmissions interchangeable between a 2.5 and a 3.3, the engine was replaced with a 26 motor and it strips the plastic drive gear, please help! I was told if I bought just a metal drive gear that it wont work I need the steel gear kit as well. I can find a gear kit for a 3.3 but not a 2.5

This will work for the internals. I run these in my BB rig.

Dude, do not go buying a steel gear set just plain because you don't need it. Get you a steel spur gear to match your clutch bell if you want and forget it. It is probably stripping because the mesh was not set correctly. When you install the new gear, get a piece of printer paper and roll it between the gears while you press them together and tighten your engine bolts. Remove the paper and rotate the gears. They should be set so that they rotate without any binding or excessive amount of play. If you try another plastic gear, get you some Dupont teflon multi-use lubricant (dry lube) and give them a coat of that. That stuff is a dry lube that coats them with teflon after it dries. Bicycle racers use it on their chains because it does not attract dirt.

The stock trans with a plastic spur should hold up quite a while unless you run your slipper too tight. Usually the only problem you'll have is the first primary gear will wear out over time.

I have the Original Revo 2.5r and what I did after I stripped out the reverse tranny gears is performed a forward only conversion kit on the transmission. My transmission failure was caused out of little bit of negligence when I installed a Spectrum 2.4Ghz radio conversion and did not adjust the reverse servo properly in the throw points on the the new transmitter than hit reverse one day.

Reduces the overall turning mass of the tranny and helps prevent future issues with the transmission. While you can do other hop ups to the tranny this will help the most.
