I have a Tmaxx with an OS .21TM engine. I can't get my transmission to shift. I am not new to nitro but am fairly new to the Tmaxx and the whole RC transmission thing. I'd like to get the Forward only conversion but I'm told these transmissions have two forward gears. Mine won't shift and seems as if it will only run about 25-30 mph
Stock wheels and tires and the engine is dialed in pretty good. Just barely smokes and only for a second under WOT. Will spin the tires in gravel. Seems to me it's stuck in first gear. What to do now.

Also does anybody remove the electric start for a recoil starter on these machines. Seems it would be much easier and much less trouble.

Thanks in advance.

If it's not smoking that means it's too lean. You'll get the same bogging and slow performance as if it were too rich. Try richening it up a bit on the high speed needle.

I had this problem when I first got started in RC and it was because I didn't have it tuned right. Once I got it tuned correctly, it started revving and shifting just like it should.

I got it straightened out. I put the Forward only gear set in it. removed the servo. Ditched the EZ start for a pull rope. and put a traxxas resonator on it today along with engine saver? intake system. Put on the Integy piggybacks and got started painting the new megacab body. With a properly tuned trans and the OS 21TM engine with pipe and intake this thing will fly. It wouldn't pull the front tires yesterday on pavement. If you do it now it will flip over on its back. Think I may need to regear for speed now. Very strong on the bottom, especially compared to the 2.5

That is a HUGE engine compared to the 2.5. I was looking into doing a big block conversion and using that engine. In fact. if you haven't already upgraded to the 3.3 transmission, I have one for sale that I decided not to use. It's still brand new, I think I'm about to put it on ebay.

What would be the advantage of using the 3.3 transmission? I love the way it runs, but I'm thinking of getting some of the RPM true track Rear a-arms to get rid of the annoying adjustable rear toe angles. There isn't any way to get them perfectly straight.
