transmission removal

so i want to change to the forward only conversion in my pro.15 but i ran onto a problem. the screws on the bottom of the trans are stripped. (the screws between the bottom of the trans ans the chassis braces) i'm not a big fan of drilling screws on my rc cars it normally goes go wrong and i break something. so i was wondering how some of you guys would go about it? and i do have extra screws chassis, trans case, and chassis braces.

If the screw heads are accessible, you can use a rotary tool, aka Dremel and cut a slit across the head and then use a flat blade screwdriver. Another sometimes successful fix is to clean the screw head really well and epoxy some other piece of metal into it. Make sure the piece of metal will allow for enough torque to be applied to remove the screw once it's set. An old hex key works well.

Theres been times where a little jb weld on the end of an allen wrench has worked for me. It takes a little time for the weld to harden but typically loosens easily

my screws the phillips heads are complete circle i bought the truck used and got it like this.

i know there is a graphite type paste you can buy for stripped out screws and what not. when i go to work ill get the real name for it lol. can't think of it right now i have used it and it works amazing.

If stripped out that bad you will probably have to drill the heads off the screws (the old Phillips screws that were used are pretty soft) if that doesn’t work out for you, you will have to sacrifice the old chassis braces (the old braces are cheap to replace) and cut them and the screws. There is enough room between the head of the screw and the chassis to cut through the braces and screws with a dremel cutoff wheel. That will leave plenty of the cut screw sticking out of the tranny to remove with pliers/vice grips.

If you can not drill the heads off the screws, you would use a dremel and a cutoff wheel. Cut parallel through the chassis braces just below the chassis and above the head of each screw.

You can use a drill bit and drill the head off pretty easily. Use a bit that's a little oversized for the actual threaded part of the screw. Not a bit that's as big as the head of the screw. This way the head itself is there to help center the bit.

Try a left handed drill bit in the proper size at a slow speed.

it would seem as though u could just drill the heads off and pull the trans up and use pliers to turn them out and replace the screws right?
