ok so today i just got my fully rebuilt transmission back from the hobby shop. i sent it in because it wouldnt shhift out of 1rst. well guess what i put it in my hpi savage x4.6 tune it does the same thing any ideas. getting very pissed and about to go to traxxas and sell my hpi. please someone try to help me out put 100 dollars into it and still dont work

Is it the two spped or three speed? It very well could be the turn of your engine. If your engine RPMs are not getting high enough it will not shift....IE you could be too rich. How much torque does the engine seem to have a lot off the line? If it seem sluggish off the line it could be skipping 1st and going straight to second. Either way it will need adjusted. Ok....do you know how to adjust the tranny shift points? On the side of the transmission there is a rubber cap with three stoppers. Open them up. you look inside and you will see the gears....I find it easiest to roll the truck backwards slowly to find the adjustment screw. In the larger gear there will be a notch cut-out....hold the larger gear to keep it from rotating and roll back slowly until you can see the adjustment. ***Note*** there are two screws....one is straight in to the clutch pack the other is at about a 45 deg. DON'T back out the one that is staight in!! Ok once you find the one that is in at the angle if you turn it in that INCREASES the shift RPM.....if back it up it DECREASES the Shift RPM point. You are probably going to want to back it out.....try half turn at a time and test it. You can just hold it up off the ground with it started and SLOWLY increase the the RPM until it shifts. If it is too high or too low....adjust as needed.
Hope this helps some.

ok thanks i mean like i have had problems since i bought it and just really unsatisfied with it.. nut i will try that and see what happens because the hobby shop had it for a week and was suppose to tune it and everything so yah thank you and i will let ou know what happens

You wont be any happier with Traxxas. They take a lot more wrench time cause they break a lot easier than a Savage. I know I have had 3 T-Maxxes and you can't skip first gear the cluctches are spring loaded. They spring out at a certain rpm due to cintrifugal force, which means they release when the rpms drop. So you always start in 1st. Read the manual that came with the truck it will tell you everything you need to know about it. Don't waste tour time and money taking it to the hobby shop. They are charging you for stuff you can easily do yourself if you read the manual.

I agree learn to work on your truck yourself...... your going to save money doing that and learn how stuff really works.

Yah I rebuilt the transmission once before and still didn't work then it went to the shop because I thought I did something wrong. But I do all the work myself because I work on my own dirtbikes and stuff so I'm a motor head.

Yeah true, BUT if it is set too low (the spring force) it will go to 2nd quick enough that you will never notice it shifting....so yes he does need to check to see if the clutch is set correctly. So technically true he can't "Skip" first gear but if it shifts the second he takes off it the whole multi-gear system is pointless.

I had a three speed when they first came out...in a 25 case....I kept having to pull it out because it was basically going straight to third. I was thinking man this thing sucks ..no bottom end power..then realized....no it was just me not knowing how to set it up. Every time had to pull the transmission all the way out and split it open.....I think I pulled the stupid thing like 6 times before I got it right. I was SOOOO happy to see the X style case.

So what was it? Upgrades.....hmmm. better shocks? Longer TVPs? Here is my mildly up-graded Savage.

The motor was too tight against the spur gear and the tranny was to tight as in the bolt that adjusts shifting time an ok what servo an linkage do you have on your savage

Ok because they look best and I wish I had ones like that but I'm going to upgrade my servos....high torque one with a hump batterypack and battery indicator And possibly the turbo for the savage found a site that sells them cheap but idk if I'ma get it because the f4.6 motor already has 2.9 horsepower so it really not worth it to

Oh stay WAY away from any turbo /supercharger kits. They do not work on a two stroke nitro engine....period. Get some of the Tower Hobbies brand servos. They are re-badged Hitec. Good stuff.
