not quite sure what is going on here but i think it is the tranny. when i push the truck foward it makes a clicking noise. when i push the truck backwards all four tires lock up. does this sound like i am going to have to dive into the tranny. i know i wrote about problems like this before, but i want to make sure i am trying to fix the right part. thanks

A clicking is usually the symptom of a bad diff. You didn't say what it was, or if it was 2WD or 4WD.

I guess I wasn't paying attention. You didn't have to say what it was, it's in the Revo forum.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure you have a diff problem.
Sometimes they click on takeoff, sometimes when you brake. Take off is usually in the rear diff, braking is usually in the front one.

You may have blown the diff, there are some Revo's out there with problem diff's. Do you have the FOC? If so and it's one of the older kits, I think some of them had the wrong gear in it. Or possibly did it shift into reverse on you when you were going forward? I would think diff would be an easier place to start

well same problem here.
LHS said it was when you go to do a back flip you dont hold trigger down. I cause's it to skip teeth so I'm getting it fixed so have you tried that on jumps?

yeah, that was when it broke was when i didn't land a backflip. i am almost sure that it isn't the diff's because i had just changed them both and when spinning the tires they seem to work fine, and the guys at the lhs said it most likely wasn't the diffs but they wern't sure.

bigredkacy what do you mean by skipping teeth?

well it looks like a couple of the teeth inside were pretty mangled. part number 5396 was missing all of the teeth, and part number 5395 was missing half. it didn't take long to take the tranny apart but i am sure it is going to take a while trying to figure out where everything goes. o well, it sure is a good feeling when you fix something and it actully works. thanks for the help guys.

Yep thats the same thing that happened to me last week, same gears anyway. Its really not that hard at all to fix, and its like 15 bucks for the gears. Remember to reset that opti-drive just to make sure.

You didn't say you were doing backflips or jumping. Holding the throttle open while airborne your just running the thing unloaded then the impact at touchdown where the tires are going from WOT to impact does put some stress into the gearing and drivetrain.

That's the purpose of the slipper clutch. It's not for taking off, but for absorbing the 'shock' that goes through the drive train when the truck hits the ground with tires spinning too fast, or too slow.
You might want to loosen it a little more till you master flips or jumping.

ok i know its a little late

ok i know its a little late but i had the same problem..
first of all yes it is in the tranny and you will have too open it up which actually isnt as hard as you would think; second it is a few stripped gears that are causing it;and on mine i managed to shear the little shaft that went through the main gears to hold them together. this was about a $20.00 fix for me and it isnt really as hard as it sounds. good luck
