Wow! If you think about it, we are all crazy. We buy a remote control vehicle to play around with and beat the poop out of. Then we go and spend tons of money for all these cool polished aluminum parts. At one time I fell pray to the "I gotta have this" desease and now just stick mostly with factory parts unless there is a functional reason for upgrading. It's much easier on the wallet and for the most part the factory parts hold up rather well. There is now way in hell, I would ever spend $200 on a tranny case for and R/C. It was hard enough for me to spend $60 for four aluminum adjustable upper arms for the Savage but the chamber was terrible and that was the only option at the time (now I would just get the new factory adjustable composite).

I've justified wanting an aluminum tranny case for the Maxx only because a couple of the eight screw holes in the plastic case are stripped. They're currently Loctited in place and the whole assembly seems pretty sturdy.

This assembly of the chassis rails to chassis to transmission is the backbone of the machine.

All I can say is ouch. Nice and shiney, but of little other value.

wdavidhicks, you are correct about the tranny case being a part of the chassis for the truck, however it is there more as a shape holder vice an actual load bearing member. It helps to keep the box-beam shape of the chassis and thus maintains the strength. If the truck were to take some serious head on collisions on a regular basis, I might be able to make a viable arguement for spending the change on this kind of upgrade...but the once in a while impact shouldn't everstress the stock tranny case too much.

Just food for thought.
