how do you know when you have a bad tranny my T Maxx has reverse in it and it seems like it is going in to neutral or something like that and then wants to jump back into gear I thought it was a slipper clutch slipping that's what it sounds like to me but I don't think it is that

the truck is a 49 07 model my local hobby store put my reverse in I t to the truck has 6 and a half tanks of gas through it

Uh....Say again. I have no idea WTF you are saying here. Damn I thought when I left Afghanistan last time I would not need and interpreter anymore.:\

yeah it goes in to reverse fine and then back to drive but then when I give it gas sometimes it like Revs up like the clutch is slipping clutch slipping I'll be driving I'll hit the brakes and then stop the go to punch do a wellie and then sometimes it just revs up like it's popping into neutral and then when the tons lower and slow down It like goes back into gear

it is a brand new truck to has 6 and a half tanks of gas ran through it it is a 4907 model if that helps with anything

I have had a similar problem with an original Maxx,my problem was the forward/reverse servo itself, it would" jump around "and pop the tranny out of gear,...try this, pop off the linkadge that connects it to the tranny and lock ur tranny in forward gears, test and see if the problem persists, also you could just unplug the servo from the receiver.

Make sure the servo is applying pressure to the spring on the shift rod or else it will pop out of gear. If that doesn't solve anything then there's a good chance you've shelled the forward gear.

Have you or anyone else put oil or grease in there?

no I haven't put any gre ase in the training at all HobbyTown USA is the 1 that put the reverse in my truck I got it home I broke the Motor Inn and on the 6th tank this started happening the truck is brand new and I've never told a tranny apart or even took one out at that matter lol

HobbyTown is the only 1 that has ever worked on my truck before they put the reverse in before I even bro ught the truck home when I first bought it on November 29th of this year

oh I heard that there is a slipper clutch inside this tranny and that might be loose is this true ? sorry for the newbie questions I'm just really mad because this truck is brand new and don't know why I'm having this problem

The slipper clutch is attached to the black plastic spur gear on the outside of the trans. You could try tightening that nut just an 1/8th of a turn or less. It's in the manual.

my slipper clutch is tight I made sure of it what should I try first before I pull the tranny out ?

should I unplug the reverse servo from the receiver and say that to see if it stops it from popping out of gear

I'll hit the brakes and then stop the go to punch do a wellie

and then when the tons lower and slow down It like goes back into gear

I wish I knew what you were talking about. "Stop the go to punch do a wellie".
I think I might have figured that out after reading it several times.

..."and then when the tons lower and slow down it like goes back into gear."
Okay, I think it goes into gear but I don't know what tons are or what makes them lower.

when I hit the brakes and then punch the gas and it just revs up sometimes like the spur gear is slipping but it's not

---------- Post added at 7:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 7:55 PM ----------

when the RPM lower and slow down it goes back into gear sorry about that my phone keyboard is messed up

Yes dude unplug the servo so you can atleast rule that out, geeeeeezz, also since rolex missed this one I feel it is my responsibility as a member of this group to point out that most of will not take the time to figure out what " gre ase in the training" means, lol happy new year.

yeah I'm going to try to unplug the servo tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem say if thatyp doesn't fix the problem what does that mean all my servos a brand new["]

grease don't go in the trannying right is this true or false ? Happy new year 2013

Rcnt needs a spell check, grammar check and punctuation check for this guy! He just doesn't understand. I'm done reading his posts.

Mike, damn auto-correct right? Lol.. I'd just rip the Transmission out and install the Forward only Conversion Kit (FOC). I believe it's right around 12-13 bucks. I honestly feel that with the extra gears in a Transmission with reverse, it robs a little bit of power.

Do Not grease or oil the trany.

After looking at the Reverse gear set on TowerHobbies I think you problem is the spring on the servo is not putting enough pressure
on the shift rod to keep the gear engaged under heavy load.

Try moving the shift servo arm &/or the spring so it puts more pressure on the shift rod.

The spring pressure of the servo arm/spring is all that keeps the shift disc pushed onto the output gear, if there is not enough pressure
then it can be pushed off the gear & the lugs will disengage causing a neutral like effect.

okay thanks I'll try that I'm taking my car to my local hobby shop right now and gonna tell them what's up with it and tell him that it must be the spring is to lose there is the 1 that put my reverse in and so I don't want to pull it out and have them say Oh since you touched it so we can't fix it the spring is weird on the new servo system I don't really see how this spring holds the pine and it's a round spring and it looks weird never seen it before

thank you for all your help guys I'll let you know what the problem is but by the way you don't think it's a bad gear or something like that I don't know why it would have a bad gear since the transmission is a month old I just don't see how that happened ?
