Alright, I'm about to rip my truck apart and make sure that nothing is binding inside the tranny and whatnot. But I printed out the exploded view of the tranny from www.traxxas.com and had a question about something on it. There is a box that says "Old Style Primary Shaft Assembly" and I was wondering if this is different on the new Maxx's or not. I have the old ones when they first came out by the way...

Thanks

And any pointers for doing the tranny would help too.

I would check the part number from traxxas, then find a clear place to work! No cats-my cat took my button for novarossi head-$25. place a towel down and get to work

I got a big plastic table and took the whole thing apart, and not having any denatured alcohol I used WD-40 instead, worked like a charm. Other than that I took a hook-up for an aircompressor that has a hose and I put the hose in a bottle of water and sprayed it down. I'm curious about the sealed bearings though, my little sister grabbed one and tossed it into a little thing of WD-40 that I had for soaking a gear in. Should I replace it or is there someway to re-lube it or whatever???

I would just put the bearing back in the truck. I soak all of my bearings in denatured alcohol and just put them back intot he truck and i have not had any problems.

I used WD-40 and it worked fine. Plenty of things aren't reccomended, but who the f**k cares... Just try to get as much of it off as possible, otherwise you'll have a film and it will collect dirt.

Do you think taht denaturated alcohol, laquer thinner, or kerosene is safe to use on R/C cars?

Kerosene, I highly doubt that it's safe. Denatured alcohol is perfect for degreasing and whatnot. And paint thinner might eat plastic, so I wouldn't chance that.

I haven't had any trouble w/ any of those things, but, what i use the most for cleaning my trucks is this stuff called Dart- 26 i think. It's made out of orange oil to dissolve spilled oil but works great on my trucks. I don't know where you can buy b/c I get it from the rep from Madison Chemical.

denatured alcohol is fine but i dont think paintthinner is any good and deffr not kerosene that will also eat plastics. I can tell you neither of those two will ever get close to my R/C's thats for sure.

I've only used kerosene to clean the engine after I threw it into my lake b/c it wouldn't stay running
