I went from a .21 bb 14T/52T to a picco .26 with a 16T/52T. It's broke in and I'm on my 15TH tank. When I'm at half throttle it will shift fine but if I gun it it does not seem to be shifting, it just runs like its a single speed tranny. Should I adjust the tranny or what?

Thanks.

Are you sure that it's not shifting? When you go WOT does it seem like the engine's RPM's are high and it wants to shift but isn't?

If you have the shift point dialed in, you will actually not hear the tranny shift. The RPM's will simply rise at a smooth constant pace.

Later...

It seems like the rpms are almost going too high. That's my concern and the top speed is not were I think it sould be compared to my .21

the picco .26 has alot of torque..and it may be you cannot hear or "feel" the tranny shifting as when it shifts the rpms do not drop or hesitate. that is what happend when i went from s.25 to xtm 24.7, i can no longer hear the truck shift but it definatly was going into second gear. as long as the truck is going as fast as it was with the .21bb on top end it should be in 2nd, the top rpm of the picco .26 is not much greater than the .21bb although the power it has in that powerband is a different story.

same here i can't hear mine shift i got the fantom 27 but i know it goes in 2nd cause it hauls ass

ok i withdraw the last post i made i turned the second screw in on the trans the lower one in like 2-3 turns now it shifts at a higher rpm sounds like how it should

Maybe your shift point is too low for the .26 and it shifts so early you don't hear it. I just had to do that after putting about a half gallon through the S25. Give it about a 90 degree turn in.

make sure you are not over-winding that fantom, although the truck sounds like it may be shifting were it should, when an engine has alot of power it is able to turn the gears easier and so does not need to stay in 1st gear so long. i would forget how/when the truck shifts and adjust according to how fast the truck accelerates. now if raising the shift point also increased accelration then everythings good. what I'm trying to say is increasing the shift point to higher rpm's doesn't always mean quicker acceleration, as it may be spending too much time in first and over winding past the engines optimum power band.

i screwed mine in and now it seems to be a little slow to down shift so I'm buring up the clutch i dont recommend screwing it in to far 1/8 increments

Along with this topic.....my .25 seems to whine out at WOT with high RPM. I am not sure if it is just shifting alot sooner and quicker which may be good for short track runs but for longer straights, I would think that shifting sooner and quicker would lose that power in second.
When I rich out my HSN, that is when I start to notice and hear it shifting into second however I tend to lose more power during take offs and it also seems much slower completely even after it shifts when HSN is rich.

Any advice on how to get good power during low speeds less than half throttle and then pick up good fast speeds at WOT without losing power either way and clean shift points that is possibly noticable without whining high RPM's where I feel that there is just no more power left to achieve???

Right now my HSN is set at like 4 out and LSN is pretty much flush with the end of my carb.....I could never tell if the LSN is turned completely in when trying to adjust it so I just made it flush with the end of the carb body where the rubber boot is.

Thanks
RJ
