anyone know where i can get a set of steel for my tranny and who i should go with for a good price

I believe Robinson Racing Products (RRP) sells the steel gears for the 2.5 Maxx tranny. I don’t think they sell them as a complete kit though like they do for the 3.3 Maxx.
I would either check RRP’s or Tower Hobbies site and get all the part numbers of the steel gears you will require then go shopping at various on-line retailers. You should also check your LHS, they may surprise you with pricing that they special order for you.

RRP now sells every gear in steel for the 2.5 including the 1st and 2nd speed gears, the only ones they don't carrie is the forward and reverse output gears, but Golden Horizons carries them in aluminum, that will make a complete metal drive line, I have this setup and it is very durable, hope this helps!
