RC Driving Style
HI I'm Ryan, i'm from the UK and have been given two old RC nitro cars that were apparantly seized and generally worthless. Me and a friend with much more knowledge have managed to get both running and have just finished one of them. We've worked out that it's an old PB Racing car "Apollo" 2wd with a BMW shell, an irvine XR15 engine and 2 gears? we set up the servo's and radio gear yesterday and took it out for it's first test. It runs perfectly! but driving the damn thing is a whole different story I can't even open up the throttle by 1\4 without it spinning out of control however the alignment is spot on and it has new foam tyres all round, it sits very low to the ground but i've been told this should'nt be a problem if racing on the correct surface. So i'm at a loss my only thought is that perhaps one of the wheels is spinning faster than the other? has anyone else come across this problem? any help would be really appreciated as I would love to get it going properly. oh and the other car is a 2wd Mantua Model Magika, everything looks good on that too but it's missing a top plate and servo's but we'll get round to that one when I have some more cash to burn!:D

If it does it even with a slow easy start, I'd guess you have a bad bearing on one side. It could be in the diff or at the axle end.

Wow! a speedy reply! thanks Rolex i'll check that out, someone just told me I may need to tighten one of the diff's well i'll have to work out how? but thanks for the support. I'll upload some pics soon of both cars Although i'm sure everyone else's are much newer and shinier! :)

Ok, I have checked and replaced the faulty bearing (cheers rolex) put it back together and now it will not idle! Only runs for a few seconds then cuts out, I've tried leaning it out/in more and nothing works HELP!!

Running beautifully now will post some pics soon! It was a problem with the fuel tank which has now been replaced.
