RC Driving Style
Hi, I am interested in knowing what Tools people think are necessary for maintenance and doing hop-ups on the T-Maxx.

I am looking at buying some Hex driver's but don't know what sizes I would require or which make to go for.

Thanks for the help to anyone who replies.

Good tools are a must. Take it from a guy who bought cheap ones. They cause more headaches than they're worth. I would recommend a good set of Phillips and standard screwdrivers including a long standard for needle tuning. And get a good set of hex drivers. There are a lot of quality drivers out there. Stay away from Duratrax. Mine are all rounded and I've trashed all my heads. I would recommend the Ofna or Trinity. They seem popular. I'd recommend a 4-way wrench also so you can handle your wheel nuts and glow plug. I think that should make a good basic set....

You should get a small set of the jewelers screwdrives. The fairly small philips and standard ones. Makes tuning and the such easier. Other than that Candyman covered it all. You'll want a long philips and standard just for those hard to reach areas. Hex drivers are a very good idea. Electric drills for driving and removing screws is a bad idea. That's all that I can think of. I included a few things Candyman said already.

Later.

Good screwdrivers with VERY thin, long shafts. A standard screwdriver can't get into tight spots and you end up removing other parts to get to a screw. Look in the manual and make note of the Allen hex sizes you need. You can get individual sizes at a good hardware store without getting a full set. Avoid a set of 10 or 12 hex wrenches for a few bucks in a bargain bin. Get the best.
Also a thin, long needle nosed pliers for holding a screw it a tight spot till you get it started.

Power Racing Products makes a great set of tools ( hex drivers in metric and SAE ), nut drivers ( metric and SAE ), phillips and flat head screw drivers in different lengths and sizes ( I like the 4mm flathead because its perfect for tuning in your nitro engine ), manifold spring puller, and a crazy 3 shoe clutch wrench. The quality is top notch and I see alot of racers at our tracks with them. Check out www.happytimehobby.com
