A friend of mine just bought a Tmaxx model 4910 2.5. He asked me to bring it home and look it over as he doesn't really have much nitro knowledge. Now granted, after I ask this question, it'll sound like I don't have much knowledge either. But I'm stumped. This Maxx has a 72 tooth spur on it, and to the best of my knowledge, when you spin the spur, the tires should rotate as well, right? I tore into the tranny, and found absolutely nothing wrong. Gears look good. It looks brand new! I was told that after you start it and go, it will go. I haven't tried it yet. Looking for some answers first. If you spin the spur, shouldn't the whole drive spin and turn the tires?? Just learning, I'm stumped!! Any help would be great. Thanx a lot!

i dont have a TMAX but own a revo 3.3 ...and when i spin the spur one way , it will turn the wheels ...if i turn it the other way , nothing moves ......dont know if the Max is the same way ...pretty sure someone who has one will jump in soon ;)

good luck

yea, my Tmaxx does the same thing because I have foc installed. Spin it one way, nothing, spin it the other, the tires creep forward. When you spin his, either way there's nothing. Thanx dude. Anyone else got anything at all???

if he doesn't have the FOC then it will spin either direction freely. the trans has another clutch that engages at a certain RPM. this is one of the week spots that gets replaced with the FOC.

Mine is the same way, spur moves freely without spinning the tires either direction. I'm not too sure if this is bad beings I've had trani problems with it the last 4 years and it recently quit even attempting to shift into 2nd so I'm not sure if its bad. Youll have to drive it to find out if its ok or not. I'm thinking my problem right now is the set screw for 2nd gear timing so it shits earlier or later. You might wanna check that but I encourage that you test drive it 1st. good luck :D

Thanx a lot for the feedback. I'm gonna test it out tomorrow. BUT, I'm ordering the foc for him and installing it ASAP!!!! No need for reverse. Best thing I ever did to mine. thanx again guys....!:D

the 2.5 tranny has forward and reverse and that's why you arent seeing the wheels turn when you spin the spur gear. there is nothing wrong with the tranny unless it has stripped gears or something noticable when you pull it apart.
